MANILA, Philippines – Samsung announced Thursday, May 23, that the Galaxy S4 smartphone has surpassed 10 million units sold less than a month after launch.

On the Samsung Tomorrow blog, the company’s announcement compared the traction of the S4’s sales to previous iterations of the Galaxy S series. The Galaxy S took 7 months to hit 10 million in sales, while the S2 and S3 took 5 months and 50 days, respectively, to hit that mark.

One notable tidbit in this release is the use of the statement “global channel sales.” This qualifies the sales as being shipments to retailers rather than sales to end-users of the S4 device.

Samsung also noted that it will also introduce more color variations to the S4. Aside from the current White Mist and Black Forest colors, Blue Arctic, Red Aurora, Purple Mirage, and Brown Autumn will be made available in the summer. – Rappler.com
