MANILA, Philippines – Whatsapp users can now send voice messages to other users of the Whatsapp service, regardless of the platform using the app.

In an August 7 blog post, Whatsapp said voice messages would be released on all of its platofrms simultaneously.

Voice messaging is a function that lets users record their voice then send that recorded audio to a recipient using Whatsapp.

The company added that it “worked very hard to make sure that iPhone and Android devices have perfectly working Voice Messages functionality, and we put extra effort into making sure that BlackBerry, Nokia and Windows Phone users can enjoy the same rich and powerful Voice Messaging experience.”

Whatsapp appears to be simultaneously introducing the feature to increase the feasibility of Whatsapp as the go-to messaging platform of people on a myriad number of device types.

Whatsapp on the iOS previously removed its US$0.99 upfront fee, streamlining it to be free for the first year of use across its various platforms with a minimal fee to be paid after the first year. – Rappler.com
