MANILA, Philippines – If there’s any indication that Facebook is mimicking Twitter in some ways, it’s in their adoption of hashtags and, more recently, Trending Topics.

All Things D reports that Facebook is experimenting with a system they’re calling “Trending Topics.” It highlights things a large number of Facebook users are talking about at a given time.

Facebook’s Trending Topics will reportedly be tested by a small percentage of US users on the mobile website.

Users who are able to test this “will see a banner flagging a particular topic. If they click on it, they’ll see what some of their friends are saying about it, and then they’ll see comments and posts from people they don’t know.”

No word has been given on a timeline for the testing or a full-scale rollout of the Trending Topics system. – Rappler.com
