Breakout Philippines, famous for its themed escape games, teamed up with the popular zombie show The Walking Dead to bring us “Breakout: The Walking Dead Real Life Escape Room,” where the pressure is on to get out of a room with your brains still intact.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Breakout, it’s an interactive game where participants are locked in a room and have to figure out a way to escape – team up and solve the clues in the room – all in 45 minutes.

The rooms are themed too, so you and your friends are trapped there and have to get out for different reasons, whether it’s because a crazy clown locked you in, or you’re a framed police officer trying to get out of prison.

For their Walking Dead event at Trinoma, the premise is simple: It’s the zombie apocalypse and you’re trying to survive. You and your friends end up locked in a room with a Walker (what zombies are called on The Walking Dead) and to get out, all you have to go on are the clues left by the room’s previous owner.

Because the Trinoma room is a special event, you have 20 instead of 45 minutes to escape.

Even though the event only runs from October 10 to November 12, Breakout still went all out with the production: the Walkers’ gray skin, bulging eyes, and wounded flesh looked all too real. (READ: Former ‘zombie werewolf’ shows you how to turn yourself into a zombie)

Of course, the actors were great at being undead too. They may have just moaned and grunted, but they were very much in character, posing for people at the event’s entrance. Zombies lurking at the event’s darker corners will give you a shock too.

After you pay the P200 entrance fee, you’ll be led to one of the two rooms at the event. Blindfolds are handed out, and your group is guided up a flight of stairs before you’re plunged into the story.

Not being able to see is one thing, but the sounds you’ll hear inside the room will make you all the more tense. As soon as you can take your blindfolds off, a timer counts down to the number of minutes you have left to escape.

Some advice: don’t assume it’ll be easy. You may have promised yourself you won’t panic – and of course you know none of it is real – but it’s pretty hard to keep a clear head inside the room.

Breakout: The Walking Dead Real Life Escape Room will at Trinoma until November 12 at the Level 4 Garden Restaurants, and you and your friends can participate for P200 per head.

If you can’t make it to Trinoma though, their other rooms are open year-round, including their regular The Walking Dead room at Katipunan. The Clown House and Detention rooms are also located at 315 Katipunan Avenue, Loyola Heights, Quezon City, while the Outbreak Manila Room, Prison Room, The Heist, Room 13, and Limbo are located at the Ground Floor of Paragon Plaza Building, 162 EDSA corner Reliance St., Mandaluyong.

Breakout also has a big Halloween event coming up called the #VParty Series: Midnight Mysteries,” and it’s supposed to be scarier than ever, with creepy stories and even the possibility of you being separated from your group and left alone in the dark. Should it be too much for you, you can scream the “safe word” – “I want my mommy!” – and be brought back to your friends.

Midnight Mysteries will be at Victoria Court Malate on November 7.
