MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Tourism (DOT) relaunched the Bring Home a Friend program on Saturday, October 14, in a bid to attract more visitors to the country.
In a statement, Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo said she was happy to be bringing back a program started by one of her predecessors – former secretary Mina Gabor – in 1994.
Actor Piolo Pascual, who has also been named tourism ambassador, performed the program's theme song. The video for the theme song shows famous tourist destinations such as Boracay and Batanes, plus Philippine festivals.
Bring Home a Friend seeks to promote the Philippines by encouraging Filipinos to bring home foreigners or even fellow Filipinos from abroad who have yet to see the country's beautiful tourist spots.
"Bring Home a Friend is our shoutout to the world to come and see the Philippines: a country of diverse cultures, rich traditions, and unrivaled biodiversity," Teo said. – Rappler.com
