IN PHOTOS: Beautiful Dinagyang Festival 2015
Iloilo City was packed once again with revelers and devotees Sunday, January 25, as people flocked to see the annual Dinagyang Festival celebrations.
Much of the downtown district was closed to vehicles to give way to the street dance performances of the highly anticipated Dinagyang Ati tribe competition.
I joined a sea of crowds, lured to the city center by thundering fast-paced drum beats and entranced by the spectacle of costumed street performers dancing in unison.

Dinagyang events started as early as November of last year with the main highlights held on the fourth week of January. The festivities draw an estimated crowd of one million people to Iloilo City every year.
Since its humble beginnings in 1967 as a religious celebration held in honor of the Señor Santo Niño (Child Jesus), the festival has evolved into one of the Philippines’ grandest festivals, and Iloilo’s biggest tourist draws. – Rappler.com
