MANILA, Philippines – Shiva Rea had a vision.

She wanted people to come together to promote peace, activism, and awareness for global issues that face all of humankind.

Together with other yogis and yoginis she began a project that would unite people across countries and continents for YOGA.

The idea was based on 108 mala beads. Wrapping the world in one big mala, a Global Mala, she would help bring peace to the world and awareness to pressing global issues.

“Yoga is one of the few common denominators for millions of people around the world; together, we are creating a circle around the Earth and dedicating our energy to peace.”

In cities all over the world, people will be coming together on September 21 to share the gift of service, peace, and yoga with another while moving toward positive change.

This celebration on the Fall Equinox and the United Nations’ International Day of Peace will raise funds and awareness for different organizations promoting mindful living here in the Philippines.

TV Host-turned-environmentalist Teresa Herrera has spearheaded Global Mala Manila since it’s inception in 2007.

With a yoga community that is multiplying exponentially, she has been raising funds and awareness for different beneficiaries every year.

This year’s beneficiaries are One Liter of LightTrees for the Future, and The Tubbataha Foundation. 100 percent of the event’s proceeds will go to these organizations making a difference in Southeast Asia.

BALANCE. Yoga strengthens your core and increases flexibility

Over 20 different types of yoga classes will be offered in the 4 different rooms of White Space on Pasong Tamo Extension.

This year will also include healing modalities and healthy living talks on Reiki, Theta Healing, and Raw Food.

Children’s yoga is FREE for the first 20 kids ages 3-8 years old who sign up with their ticketed parents.

There will be Bikram, Jivamukti, and Kundalini yoga classes, as well as Qi Flow and an Anti-Gravity Demo for Mala participants.

Life Coach Pia Acevedo will guide students to Finding Inner Balance, and Avril Rodriguez will help heal others still, through her Yoga Therapy class.

Ticket holders can attend any yoga class offered throughout the entire day and take advantage of the plethora of experience corralled under one roof from the yoga teachers present.
