Social media spreads good deeds
These are just some of the stories that inspired netizens this week!

MANILA, Philippines – One person doing good may not seem like a big deal, but what happens when you amplify its reach using social media?

Through Facebook and other platforms like X, people were able to multiply the reach of their good deeds, and even inspire strangers living on the opposite side of the country.

From February 8 to February 12, here are the stories that have gone viral, showing how goodness  inspires others.

1. Grab driver proves stereotypes wrong

Do today’s youth care about others?

While it is easy to generalize them as apathetic, there are still many who want to do good for the people around them.

Posted by Gelica Manuel Tulauan on Sunday, 7 February 2016

One night, Gelica Tulauan rode the GrabCar sedan driven by Carlo Santiago Diaz. Because he was passing through a dark route, she was immediately suspicious.

However, Tulauan’s misgivings vanished when she saw what Diaz did next.

Diaz stopped the car, took out a brown bag, and stepped out of the car. He approached an old woman and gave her the bag, which contained food.

Tulauan later found out Diaz, his friends, and his girlfriend would cook meals for homeless people, and chip in to buy the less fortunate clothes and blankets. They started their outreach because of the people who forced themselves to sleep away their hunger.

Encountering Diaz and hearing his story led Tulauan to say her faith in mankind’s goodness was restored, and she hoped people like Diaz continued what they were doing.

Since posting her story on X, Tulauan’s story has received praise all over social media.
