PNP: 53 cases of election violations in a day
MANILA , Philippines – There were a total of 53 incidents of election violations from May 12 to May 13 alone, the Philippine National Police (PNP) reported.
As of 6:59pm on Monday, election day, the PNP National Task Force SAFE reported 47 incidents of liquor ban violations and 5 incidents of vote buying.
Six flying voters were reported to and apprehended by the PNP in Mandaluyong in an incident report.
Liquor ban violations
The most number of apprehended persons for liquor ban violations were from the Davao Region (Region XI) with 148 held in police custody in 36 different cases.
All other places where there were reported liquor ban violations only had at least a single reported case each.
Quezon City (14), Navotas (10), San Nicolas, Batangas (7), and Caloocan (6) cap off the top 5 places in the country with the most number of apprehended persons.
Other places where there were reported liquor ban violations included Pasay City, Pasig City, Parañaque, and Makati City.
The PNP National Task Force SAFE apprehended a total of 14 people for vote buying, 6 of which were involved in a single case reported in Cebu.
The other places where vote buying reportedly took place included Iloilo, South Cotabato, Agusan del Sur, and Dilopog City.
