MovePH, Rappler’s citizen engagement arm, is initiating an experiment on crowd-sourced information on financial aid for students

MANILA, Philippines – In a developing country like the Philippines, where a majority of the population is young and productive, receiving a college-level education has become essential to finding employment in the highly competitive job market.

Getting into a good college or university is hard enough; but as many students later find out, staying enrolled in school can prove to be a greater challenge.

Thankfully, there are scholarships, student loans, and other forms of financial aid available to students. Though demand currently outstrips supply, many of these scholarship packages are not fully subscribed to, probably due to limited available information online.

MovePH, Rappler’s citizen engagement arm, is initiating an experiment on crowd-sourced information to help address this problem.

We want to compile a complete database of all the scholarship programs, tuition fee grants, student loans, and other forms of student aid available in the Philippines and present it in a simple and searchable website.

We invite our readers, schools, foundations and other institutions to post information on available scholarships in our comments section below or to email details to rappler.move@gmail.com.

We also invite past and current scholarship recipients to share their experiences for the benefit of new scholars. We’ve compiled a number of tips ourselves to help potential applicants.

Revisit this page often to check on the latest information and tips from schools and students.

We hope, through this initiative, we can help deserving students attain their big dreams. – Rappler.com
