In the days leading the State of the Nation Address (SONA), why not turn your mobile cameras around and help capture the 'selfie' of the nation?

MANILA, Philippines – Netizens love to take photos of themselves and to upload them on various social networking sites as “selfie” posts.

In the days leading to President Benigno Aquino III’s 4th State of the Nation Address (SONA), why not turn those mobile cameras around and help capture the “selfie” of the nation?

The President is expected to paint a picture of the country from his own governance point of view. But what about you, his bosses? What are you seeing?

MovePH, the citizen journalism arm of Rappler, invites netizens to capture the situation of Filipinos from our own lenses. Here’s how you can be a part of this project.

STEP 1: Take a photo of a person’s face using Instagram, Twitpic and other similar apps

Take photos of faces – not your own – but those of people who represent various sectors like children, youth, professionals, overseas Filipino workers, laborers, the urban poor, vendors, businessmen, etc)

Capture in your photo a face that tells a story or that mirrors a condition or aspiration of a Filipino in any of the following fields: health, human rights, education, environment, gender, hunger, and poverty, among others.

Provide a brief photo caption indicating who’s on your photo, where, when, why it was taken. Don’t forget to include your name.

STEP 2: Post the photo on Twitter using #SelfieOfTheNation or do it on MovePH’s Facebook page

Submissions will be accepted between the evening of July 16 to the afternoon of July 20 only. You can post them on Twitter using #SelfieOfTheNation or do so on the Facebook page of MovePH.

Multiple entries are allowed. Submitted photos will be stitched together to form the Philippine map which will be called the #SelfieoftheNation.

On July 22, the day of the SONA, check if your submission was included in the collage to be posted on Rappler.com. Post your photos now! – Rappler.com
