MANILA, Philippines — Rappler, in partnership with Google, joins the +SocialGood global community again in the Social Good Summit 2013 in Manila.

On Saturday, September 21, 2013, help us kick off the global conversation around the use of technology and new media to tackle some of the world’s toughest problems.

Last year, Rappler held a 2-part summit: an experts’ dialogue in the morning and a plenary Summit with Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez, Sec Ricky Carandang, TV host Bianca Gonzalez, Chris Lao and Maria Ressa.

More than 500 people attended at the Asian Institute of Management: the unique conversation took place in the physical and virtual worlds allowing Rappler to map the communities and reach of the message. The talk was inspirational for us.

This year, it’s time to push beyond talk to action.

Rappler is working on a series of international speakers who have done just that and will help show us the way. Key government representatives and speakers will outline what’s being done now, and the one-day summit hopes to apply new philosophies and tools to age-old problems.

Some of the issues we want to tackle:

1. Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction

2. Health

3. Hunger

Let us know what other issues are important to you and write us how social media and technology can help solve them. Email us at desk@rappler.com with the heading Social Good Summit.

Rappler’s Maria Ressa joins +SocialGood as one of 5 global advisors working with 25 Connectors to help harness and maintain the global conversation.  +SocialGood connects a global community using the Social Good Summit as a jump-off point.

Let’s expand the ripples for change.
