MANILA, Philippines – Filipino fast food has reached the guys at BuzzFeed, a popular United States-based social news and entertainment website.

They describe Jollibee as the “world’s most popular Filipino fast food restaurant” and had their staff – mostly white Americans – try it. Their reactions were mixed and quite entertaining.

According to their website, Jollibee, a Philippine-based fast food chain, has 28 locations across 6 states in the US. Where Filipinos are in the States, a Jollibee outlet usually sprouts nearby. Jollibee may just be a place to grab a quick bite for us here, but for the 3 million FIlipinos living there, it means more than that.

It’s a place where the smells, sounds and tastes remind Pinoys of home. (READ: When Jollibee tasted like home

California, where most of the Jollibees are, has exposed many non-Filipinos to the brand. Anthony Bourdain, a popular American chef and TV personality featured one of Jollibee’s Southern California locations on his show. (WATCH: WebHits: Anthony Bourdain tries Jollibee

“How stoned are the Jollibee people when making all this stuff up,” one of the taste testers said when he saw the halo-halo, not realizing that Jollibee didn’t “make up” halo halo.

“Burger steak, it’s beautiful,” one of the staff members, who liked the food, said.

“I so regret agreeing to do this video,” said another. Among some of the food they tried were Spicy Chickenjoy, Burger Steak, Little Big Bites, and halo-halo. Note that Little Big Bites, which are corned beef, tuna, or spam and mayo in between pan de sal, and halo halo are items offered only in US locations and other countries outside of the Philippines.

Would the BuzzFeed guys “rather go hungry?
