MANILA, Philippines – Supporters of the Reproductive Health Bill (RH Bill) are feeling more optimistic after the Senate adjourned last June 5. 

The Senate has ended the debates on the legislation, and is set for amendment talks upon resumption of Congress sessions next month.

Co-sponsored by Senators Pia Cayetano and Miriam Defensor-Santiago, the RH Bill aims to provide quality reproductive health care to women across the country. However, with its proposal to encourage the use of contraceptives and introduce reproductive health education to schools, the bill has been met with hostility from the conservative sector, particularly the religious.
