Fifth Station of the Cross
SIMON OF CYRENE HELPS JESUS CARRY HIS CROSS

V/. We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you.
R/. Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world.

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke:

“And as they led Jesus away, they seized one Simon of Cyrene, who was coming in from the country, and laid on him the cross, to carry it behind Jesus.” (Lk 23: 26)

In some way, circumstances force Simon of Cyrene to carry a cross not his own.
Recall any similar experience. How did it feel? What did it mean?
Let us pray for the grace of obedience “when the cross comes into our lives.”
