What happened when Rappler's Mood Meter made me moody
One of my blog posts was republished on Rappler.com and I’ve been pretty pleased with the feedback. I particularly like that Mood Meter Rappler has, where people can click on an emotion to show how the article made them feel.
Anyway I was checking the mood meter again yesterday, and…
HEY WAIT. I know what you’re thinking… I only check Rappler once in a while to answer comments while I’m reading other news, ok??? It’s not like I’m stalking the site every 2 hours or anything…
I’M NOT!!! I swear! I only look once a day… or so…
Anyway, as I was saying, I was looking at the mood meter yesterday and decided to check out the other little colored circles, and I realized that one of those little 4% circles stood for ANNOYED.
This of course swung my personal mood meter to a little south of CRAY CRAY… and myhusband’s mood meter to the midpoint between CONFUSION and FEAR.
Fine, I’m exaggerating again. But it did bring me down for a while, and because I was so into the whole mood meter thing I wanted to punch in another ANNOYED somewhere.
When I’d had a little time to think about it though, I realized I’d fallen into this really silly tendency a lot of us have to focus on little negative details instead of the big picture.
Why do we do that??
Just imagine all the joy we’re probably missing out on every day, just because we refuse to let the little downers in life go.
That’s just dumb. And such a useless, thankless mentality to have. So yeah.. I’ve decided I’m over that.
The bigger person sees the bigger picture. So I’m all about gratitude and focusing on the positive from this day forward.
Peace, people. :)
