As of Tuesday morning, October 8, at least 14,335 families or 62,226 people from the city and nearby areas have been affected by the flooding, the Department of Social Welfare and Development reported.

Affected people came from the 101 barangays, 10 municipalities, 10 cities in the 7 provinces of Regions VI, VII, IX, X and XII. 

At least 63 evacuation centers provide temporary shelter to nearly 4,720 families or 24,251 individuals. At least 8,875 families or 34,505 people are also receiving  relief assistance outside the evacuation centers. They took temporary shelter with their friends and relatives, the DSWD said.

The flooding has damaged at least 232 houses, 68 of which were totally destroyed, the DSWD added.

The DSWD has already provided P1,896,657.00 worth of relief assistance from the combined resources of DSWD (P1,491,350.00) and the local government units(P405,307).
