MANILA, Philippines — Disaster responders and civic group volunteers are advised to coordinate with NDRRMC first before going to Lando-affected areas, said Lt. Col. Edwin Sadang, officer-in-charge of the NDRRMC Operations Division on Sunday, October 18.

“Kung malapit sila dito [sa NDRRMC], mas maganda. Dito ang check-in,” Lt. Col. Sadang said. (If they are near [the NDRRMC], better. They can check in here.) Volunteers interested can look for Lt. Col. Sadang or the AFP. 

If they are near the area, Sadang advised all groups and volunteers to call them first so that information such as routes and landslide alerts can be provided. (READ: Emergency hotlines)

By law, municipal halls are default emergency operations center. On provincial level, it is the provincial capitol. (READ: RA 10121: The PH’s disaster management law is up for review)

“Kung sinabi nila na gusto nilang tumulong, sa nearest emergency ops center pero bago sila pumunta don, dito pa rin ang tawagan,” Sadang emphasized. (If they really want to help, [they can go to] the nearest emergency ops center but before they go there, they need to make a call here.)

1. Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija to Baler
2. San Jose City, Nueva Ecija to Baler
3. From Nueva Vizcaya to Quirino to Baler
