Calls for help in Central Luzon surge
MANILA, Philippines – Flooded communities in Central Luzon need help in the wake of Typhoon Lando (Kuppo).
On the Project Agos Alert Map alone, netizens and volunteers are plotting several reports about flooded areas and residents needing rescue Sunday night, October 18.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) call on volunteer responders in Metro Manila and areas near Central Luzon to immediately proceed to Aurora, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, and Pampanga to assist in rescue operations.
More volunteers are needed to augment government responders on the ground as calls for rescue in flooded areas surged Sunday night.
Additional rubber boats and other rescue equipment are also needed in the affected provinces, the OCD said.
Here’s a quick way to inform authorities if your rescue team wants to volunteer:
Alert OCD-NDDRMC via landline or mobile phone that you’re signing up. The NDRRMC OpCen will inform you about passable roads going to affected areas.
Mobile phone: 09282588676
Inform provincial disaster risk reduction offices that your team is going.
