There’s still no power in Leyte, Samar and many parts of Bohol, however. The provinces were badly devastated by the typhoon and NGCP said the “estimated time of restoration for the areas cannot be determined yet.”
According to a report by state-run Philippine News Agency, NGCP personnel are “currently conducting aerial and ground patrols to inspect and assess the impact of the typhoon” in said provinces.
NGCP also said it is ensuring that hardware materials and supplies necessary for the repair of damaged facilities are available.
Many provinces in Visayas were plunged into darkness as monster winds brought by Yolanda toppled transmission towers and destroyed power lines.
Yolanda, one of world’s strongest typhoons recorded, struck the Philippines Friday, November 8, decimating entire towns. The death toll from the typhoon could soar well over 10,000, local officials warned Sunday.
Electric coops in Iloilo, Guimaras
NGCP said on its Twitter account that sub-transmission lines serving Guimaras Electric Cooperative, Inc. (GUIMELCO), Iloilo I Electric Cooperative Inc. (ILECO I) and Iloilo II Electric Cooperative Inc. (ILECO II) were repaired Saturday, November 9.
ILECO I provides electricity to the entire 1st district and some parts of the 2nd district of Iloilo province, including the municipalities of Oton, Guimbal, Cabatuan, Maasin, Laganes, Igbaras, Tigbauan, San Joaquin, Tubungan, Miagao, San Miguel, Alimodian, Pavia and Leon.
ILECO II, on the other hand, caters to New Lucena, Zarraga, Calinog, Janiuay, Dingle, Passi, Bingawan, Dumangas, Lambunao, Pototan, Mina, San Enrique and Barotac Nuevo in Iloilo.
Meanwhile, GUIMELCO services the province of Guimaras and the Ave Maria and Naburul island. – Rappler.com
