IN PHOTOS: Filipino women in action

MANILA, Philippines – In celebration of Women’s Month, the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) asked Filipinos to send photographs capturing the many ways Filipino women participate in leadership, policy and decision making.

The submissions reflected how diverse women’s roles are. Although the Philippines is known as one of the world’s most gender-fair nations, a lot is yet to be done in terms of truly empowering women.

Here are the 12 winning photos from the photo contest organized by the PCW, in partnership with the Government Service Insurance System:

Rappler’s MovePH also launched its #SHEro campaign, asking netizens to share who their women heroes are through photographs, stories, poetry, and art.
