#MoveCavite: Safeguarding the People's Vote
MANILA, Philippines – On Feb 28, 2013, MovePH, Rappler’s citizen journalism arm, hits Silang, Cavite for its 13th run of the chat series, “Social Media for Social Change.”
In time for the coming 2013 midterm elections, #MoveCavite carries the theme “Safeguarding the People’s Vote.” The program is expected to run from 1:30 to 5:30 in the afternoon at the Adventist University of the Philippines (AUP) Finster Hall of All Nations.
Maria Ressa, Rappler’s CEO and executive editor, will open the session with the keynote address, “Pushing Change on Social Media.”
Chay Hofileña, veteran journalist and Rappler’s citizen journalism director, will share her insights on the impact that citizen journalists can have on election culture.
Josh Villanueva, the head of Rappler’s social media team, will present how social media can contribute to better elections.
Natashya Gutierrez, Rappler’s multimedia reporter, will give the audience a taste of the challenges and excitement of multimedia reporting.
The session will close with Patricia Evangelista, another multimedia reporter, elaborating on the significance of telling compelling stories.
#MoveCavite is conducted in partnership with AUP. It is organized by Development Communication (DevCom) students enrolled in the Undergraduate Seminar for Development class.
