The Philippines is praised by other governments worldwide for its booming economy, but actual Filipino homes paint a different story

MANILA, Philippines – Where do the poorest Filipinos live?

From August 16 to September 5, 2015, the World Food Programme held a survey among poor families across 16 of the country’s poorest provinces. The results show stark differences across regions. The lack of access to basic needs, however, remain a common denominator among all provinces.

Here’s a quick look inside the homes of our fellow Filipinos from different parts of the country:

More than half of these homes are “unpainted and dilapitaded,” while the rest are badly in need of repair. They are mostly located in slum districts and rural areas. (READ: State of poor man’s housing)

Only a few own vehicles of any type, while even lesser families own farming equipment.

Meanwhile, 62% of families have borrowings or utang. Many of them have to borrow money or food from sari-sari stores to survive. (READ: Utang po: The poor have to borrow money to eat)
