It is not expected to cause flooding but areas along the river are advised to be alert
MANILA, Philippines – Angat Dam in Bulacan will release water 8am Thursday, December 17, due to heavy rains brought by Typhoon Nona (Melor) and Tropical Depression Onyok, the National Power Corporation announced. (READ: #FloodPH: Lando-like floods in C. Luzon expected night of Dec 16)
The dam will open one of its gates as the water continues to rise more than its spilling level of 212 m (meters) above sea level.
“About 100 cubic meters per second will be released from Angat dam. The excess water can flow through the [Angat] River without causing any flood,” the National Power Corporation said.
However, the local government units and residents of areas along Angat River are advised to be on alert:

- San Rafael
- Bustos
- Baliwag
- Plaridel
- Pulilan
- Calumpit
- Paombong
- Hagonoy
