PPCRV volunteer ambushed in Pagadian City
Elmida Adela, a Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) volunteer, is attacked by still unidentified men on Tuesday morning, May 10

MANILA, Philippines – A volunteer of the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) was ambushed on Tuesday, May 10, in Pagadian City, according to the poll watchdog.

Elmida Adela, who was with her 12-year daughter, was attacked by still unidentified men on Tuesday morning, PPCRV said.  Her daughter was brought to the hospital after the incident.

The poll watchdog has deployed an estimated 700,000 volunteers for the May 9 synchronized local and national elections.

To “protect the sanctity of the people’s expression in the polls,” the PPCRV set up several command centers across the country.

In its earlier statement, PPCRV said most of the reports that came in on Monday, May 9, involved problems with the vote counting machines

The PPCRV is also mandated by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to conduct the “unofficial” vote count.  Rappler.com
