VIRAL: Two kids return missing cellphone to police
Sampaguita vendors Richele Aringo and Cael Hepe return a cellphone they found to the police station, despite offers from people to buy it

MANILA, Philippines – Photos of two kids went viral on Monday night, May 30, after they surrendered a missing cellphone to the Lucena City Police station.

According to Richele Aringo and Cael Japor Hepe, they found the iPhone inside a parked passenger bus on Saturday, May 28, at the Grand Central terminal in Lucena City while they were selling Sampaguita.

The phone would have been good as lost had Aringo and Hepe not find it first. According to them, people who knew of the missing cellphone attempted to buy it from the kids. Instead of selling the phone to them, however, the two decided to bring the missing cellphone to the police station.

To reward their good deeds, Lucena City Police Chief Joel de Mesa gave a monetary reward to Aringo and Japor.

As of posting, the photos already garnered more than 3,300 reactions and has been shared at least 1,200 times.

Netizens praised the kids, saying that they are good examples to other Filipino children. On the comment thread, Ramil Culot Tersona said that the children should be awarded a scholarship so they could pursue a criminology course when they grow up.
