(UPDATED) MANILA, Philippines – Philippine media has been abuzz recently over the peace situation in Mindanao with the signing of the historic Framework Agreement between the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).
Much has been said about the peace deal. A lot of questions have also been asked about the details of the framework. The deal has been long awaited both in the Philippines and the world–the promise of lasting peace in Muslim Mindanao.
“Malapit na ang panahon na ang gustong magbakasyon sa Pagudpud, puwede na ring sa Sulu magpunta,” promised President Benigno Aquino III. (Soon those who want to vacation in Pagudpud can also take a vacation in Sulu.)
