MANILA, Philippines – In observance of Earth Day 2012, Rappler tackled the importance of forests and how to protect them in a Twitter discussion conducted on April 22. Using the hashtag #SaveTheTrees, the 3-hour online chat mainly delved into the contentious definition of forests, the threats they face, and ways to address the problem.
The panel of discussants was composed of Commissioner Mary Ann Lucille L. Sering, Vice-Chairperson of the Climate Change Commission (@CCCommissionPh); Errol Gatumbato, Managing Director of the Philippines Biodiversity Conservation Foundation, Inc (@errolgatumbato); Clarrrise Yu Julve, a forester of Kalikasan Party (@KalikasanParty); and JP Alipio, Executive Director of the Cordillera Conservation Trust (@JPAlipio).
