#ReliefPH for #RubyPH: Filipinos helping Filipinos
Do your part to help those affected by Typhoon Ruby (Hagupit) get back on their feet as quickly as possible

MANILA, Philippines – For Filipinos subjected to numerous natural calamities, the spirit of volunteerism never fades. Even as Typhoon Ruby (now downgraded to a tropical storm) has yet to exit from the country, organizations and individuals have sprung into action to mobilize people and prepare relief supplies for towns hit by the typhoon.

As early as Saturday, December 6, even before Typhoon Ruby (Hagupit) hit land in Dolores, Eastern Samar, non-governmental organizations in Eastern Visayas were securing their relief supplies and prepositioning teams on the ground. Some of these organizations had just completed their rehabilitation programs for survivors of Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) but decided to stay on to help their communities because of Typhoon Ruby’s expected strength.

From Manila down to Mindanao, groups are busy gearing up to provide aid to more than a million people in evacuation centers. And while casualties have been kept to a relative minimum, many families will have no homes to return to after the typhoon passes.

Rappler, with the help of its Project Agos partners Blogwatch, National Youth Commission, YesPinoy Foundation, and World Vision Philippines, has compiled a map of ongoing relief operations that are accepting donations in cash or kind. The map includes relief centers or operations in need of volunteers. Rappler has also compiled a list of evacuation centers and other places that will need relief aid in the coming days. This information was sourced from the Department of Social Welfare and Development, local government units, and from the public via social media.
