Do you remember the last time
you were really hungry –
a moment when your hunger was almost ruling
your every decision and action?
Now, imagine going without food –
for 40 days in the desert! –
and suddenly, right there amid the dunes,
you find a drive-through that offers free burgers!
How many of us would be able to swallow our hunger
and actually walk away?
That’s exactly what our Lord did!
By refusing to turn stone into bread
even when He was most hungry,
our Lord showed us that he was not ruled
by his need for security and comfort.
But if in the desert, our Lord refused to turn stone into bread,
it is exactly what He did on Holy Thursday – and more!
Let us see what that means
by examining 3 events that transpired on Holy Thursday:
the Last Supper, Gethsemane, and the arrest of Jesus.
