Good Friday retreat: Closing prayer

Good Friday retreat: Closing prayer
The song, which is really a prayer, is called, 'I Look to You' covered by Boyce Avenue. It is a plea for help in times of trouble.

We end our second day
with another prayer of contemplation.
This time we will use a Gospel song
which was also the last hit
of the singer Whitney Houston.

The song, which is really a prayer,
is called, “I Look to You”
covered by Boyce Avenue.

It is a plea for help in times of trouble.
It could be your prayer to Jesus.
But it could well have been our Lord’s prayer as well
as he went through his Passion.

Watch the clips
from Franco Zeffirelli’s 1977 movie
Jesus of Nazareth.

Look at Jesus
as he gazes on the different people
he meets on that first Good Friday.
Imagine him looking at you as well
the only way that allows him
to see – and love – the sheep hiding in you:
through eyes cleansed with tears.

Share your thoughts, prayers, and questions

Before you go,
share an insight, prayer, or question.

This is one way of sharing the graces
that you have received during this online retreat.
You may also want to read what your fellow retreatants
have shared yesterday.
Feel free to offer a word of encouragement or to promise your prayers.

Remember: When you share the graces you’ve received,
you multiply these graces for others as well as for yourself.

Here are some questions
you may want to reflect about:

What struck you during today’s retreat?
What do you think was God’s main message to you or blessing for you?

Share your response – or any experience, thought, or prayer.

Once again, let us pray for one another
all those undergoing this online retreat.

See you tomorrow
for our Holy Saturday and Easter retreat!
