MANILA, Philippines – After more than a year of deliberations in Congress, lawmakers will finally decide to end debates on it Monday, August 6, and move to the next phase of the legislative process.
A lot has been said about the controversial measure. The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) is vehemently against it, and it claims they have secured 140 votes against it.
Those for the bill have debunked the CBCP’s claim, saying that they have 143 legislators who will vote in favor of the bill.
The days leading to the Tuesday vote have been action-filled and intense. Last week, the House minority bloc announced that they would withdraw their support for the bill. While on Saturday, anti-RH bill groups held a rally to oppose the measure.
Pro-RH bill groups, meanwhile, plan to hold a candle-lighting rally in front of Batasan today.
As we draw nearer to the vote in the House of Representatives, Rappler wants to know: why are you for or against the RH bill? What do you think are the pros and cons of passing the measure?
