The dam that supplies 97% of the water supply of the Philippines’ capital region and surrounding provinces will finally undergo rehabilitation 5 decades after it was built. The Aquino government is acting on a recommendation made 13 years ago by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology that the dam, located in a province north of Manila, would be unable to survive a strong earthquake.
