Planet ‘bigger, older’ than Earth discovered

Scientists on Thursday, July 23, announced they have discovered a planet similar to Earth which has been orbiting a star “very similar” to the Sun. Kepler452b, 60% larger than Earth and at least 5 times more massive than our planet is within what is called the “Goldilocks zone”. This means it is neither too hot nor too cold and will allow liquid water to exist on its surface. Scientists said Kepler 452b can be regarded as Earth’s “older, bigger cousin…providing an opportunity to underestand and reflect upon Earth’s evolving environment.”
