
Snow fell in South Africa on August 7, a rare occurrence – enough to close several border crossings with Lesotho. Heavier snowfall in the Western mountains closed the main highway linking Johannesburg to Durban, Africa’s busiest port, for several hours. Snow fell across Johannesburg and the Sandton financial district. “Amazing! Never happened in my life,” said Mizundile Eseu, a 23 year old security guard.
