MANILA, Philippines – While all rainfall warning signals have been lifted since 12 noon of August 9, Thursday, the effects of the southwest monsoon will still be felt across Northern and Central Luzon.

In its 24-hour public weather forecast released 5 am Friday, August 10, state weather bureau Pagasa said Northern and Central Luzon will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. The rain could trigger flashfloods and landslides, the bureau warned.

The rest of the country is expected to be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over Luzon and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the south to southwest with slight to moderate seas.

Rain is forecast for Laoag City, Baguio City, SBMA (Olongapo) and Clark (Angeles City). Metro Manila and Tuguegarao City, meanwhile, will be mostly cloudy with scattered rainshowers and thunderstrorms.

Tagaytay City, Legaspi City, Puerto Princesa City, Iloilo City, Bacolod City, Metro Cebu, Tacloban City, Cagayan de Oro City, Metro Davao and Zamboanga City will be partly cloudy with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms.

Warning for boats

The bureau also issued gale warnings across Northern and Western seaboards of Northern Luzon and the Western seaboard of Central Luzon where strong to gale force wind is expected. Pagasa warned that fishing boats and other small seacraft are still not advised to venture out into the sea, while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves.
