HK student leader Joshua Wong charged for street rallies

Student leader Joshua Wong hit what he termed as “political persecution” by the police after he was charged over protests that led to pro-democracy street rallies. The 18-year-old Wong is expected to appear in court Friday, August 28, for charges of obstructing police at a previous demonstration. Wong and other activists accused authorities of engaging in a with hunt aimed at leaders of the Umbrella Movement, which paralyzed the city for more than two months.
