How reliable is psychology research? When a team of 270 scientists tried to reproduce 100 psychology and social science studies published in 3 top peer-reviewed US journals in 2008, only 39% came up with the exact same results. The study topics ranged from social lives and interactions to perception, attention and memory. Gilbert Chin, a psychologist and senior editor at the journal Science, said the results show “we should be less confident about many of the original experimental results.”
