The Philippine men’s national basketball team lost to Iran 74-65 on Thursday, September 3, for a 3-2 win-loss scorecard at the William Jones Cup. Playing for the 5th straight time, Gilas managed to hang on in the first half but let go in the 3rd quarter. Iran’s big man Hamed Haddadi kept Gilas at bay and sealed the win for his team, which improved to 5-1. Asi Taulava led Gilas with 12 points, compared to Haddadi’s 22 points.
