Interior Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas II went all out in courting local chief executives from the Visayas telling them in Filipino: “Nobody else will be able to say this, nobody else, because I am the only one from the Visayas. Join me and I will give you a president from the Visayas.” Roxas addressed a gathering of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines Visayas Island cluster assembly Thursday, September 3. He traces his roots to Negros Occidental on account of his mother, and to Capiz, on account of his father. Asked by reporters about shelter assistance after Super Typhoon Yolanda that devastated parts of Eastern Visayas, Roxas turned evasive.
