MANILA, Philippines – In a bid to make the streets of Metro Manila safer, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) will train more police personnel to be deployed to patrol the streets.
Following the directive of Philippine National Police chief Director General Ricardo Marquez, NCRPO head Chief Superintendent Joel Pagdilao led the turnover of 180 field training officers and 656 police trainees to 5 police districts across the NCR.
The field training officers are tasked to supervise the 656 trainees as they learn how to respond and enforce the law in various situations.
The 5-month course, part of the trainees’ Public Safety Field Training Program, will also require the police personnel to put into practice lessons from their 6-month Public Safety Basic Recruit Course.
The NCRPO chief also led the closing ceremony for the PNP Special Counter Insurgency Operation Unit Training, where 152 policemen completed the 45-day course to develop their skills on search and rescue operations, jungle survival training, air to ground operations, and waterborne operations.
Meanwhile, 108 policemen are set to take part in the Field Training Officers Development Program.
Pagdilao said the training sessions are important for police personnel to upgrade their skills and be able to effectively deter street crimes.
“We are a uniformed organization and being that, we must be the most disciplined and most skilled. People rely on us; let us not fail them,” he said. – Rappler.com
