Anti-PDAF advocate killed in Aurora resort
MANILA, Philippines – An anti-corruption advocate who helped lobby against the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) was killed in his resort in Aurora on Saturday, November 7.
In a report by the Philippine Star, Quintin Paredes San Diego was shot in the head 4 times by 2 motorcycle-riding men. He died on the spot.
San Diego was walking back to his cottage at the Maligaya Resort, located in a remote area in Barangay Caragsacan in Dingalan, Aurora, when he was murdered.
He was one of the lead convenors of the August 26 People’s Coalition, formed after the 2013 Million People March Against Pork Barrel at the Luneta on National Heroes Day, August 26.
PDAF, which has been subject to abuse and corruption, was declared unconstitutional 3 months after the Million People March.
He was also one of those who filed for a petition for mandamus for the Supreme Court to order the return of the misused pork barrel funds to the national treasury. – Rappler.com
