MANILA, Philippines – Damage caused by the magnitude 7.7 earthquake off Eastern Samar on Friday, August 31, rose to P14.73 million as more reports came in from the CARAGA region Monday, September 3.
Prior to this, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported that the quake damage cost P14.2 million, spread across Regions VIII (Eastern Visayas), X (Northern Mindanao), and XIII (CARAGA).
The municipality of Tubod, Surigao del Norte, reported at least P 510,000.00 in earthquake damage, including damage to the Municipal hall and several barangay & school buildings.
The town also reported cracks at a bridge in Del Rosario.
Eastern Visayas reported the most damage, which will cost the region at least P 12.8 million.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported that at least 370 aftershocks have been recorded after Friday’s quake. – Rappler.com
