Makati opens realty tax payment centers in 31 barangays
MANILA, Philippines – The Makati city government will open satellite payment centers in 31 barangays starting Tuesday, January 5, for the realty tax payments of city residents.
Acting Mayor Romulo “Kid” Peña Jr made the announcement on Monday, January 4, saying Makati taxpayers may choose to pay at their respective barangays' payment centers instead of going to city hall.
These satellite payment centers will be electronically linked to the city hall’s Realty Tax Division and will be open on designated dates from 9 am to 4 pm.
“Taxpayers only need to present their previous receipt when making the payment. Each transaction usually takes a maximum of 4 minutes, and an electronic receipt is issued immediately upon payment,” said Peña.
The computerized realty tax payment system is actually a long-time project in Makati. It was started in 2006 by Vice President Jejomar Binay, mayor at the time. (READ: Binay camp accuses Kid Peña of ‘credit-grabbing,’ ‘epal’ moves)
