Umra Kato, 108 other rebels charged
MANILA, Philippines - Over 100 members and officers of the breakaway group Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Movement (BIFM) were charged with murder and multiple
murder over the series of attacks in Maguindanao and North Cotabato in August.
Charged with multiple murder, multiple frustrated murder, multiple attempted murder, kidnapping and robbery with homicide by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) were Ameril Umra Kato, the BIFM leader, Muhammad Ali Tambako, Badrudin Silongan, Kagi Karialan, Abu Missry and 109 other members.
The police filed the case Tuesday, September 4, with the Maguindanao Provincial Prosecutor's Office.
The case stemmed from the successive attacks launched by the BIFM on Army and military detachments last August 5, which killed 5 soldiers and displaced more than 40,000 residents. - Rappler.com
