MANILA, Philippines (4th UPDATE) – A fire broke out at a condominium building under construction in Mandaluyong City on Tuesday, March 22.

Fire brigades rushed to the Avida Centera condominium development, currently under construction and located near the EDSA-Reliance area, the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) reported on Twitter.

The fire was under control as of 11:10 am, the Mandaluyong City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) said on Twitter.

It was declared fire out past noon.

The fire affected the development’s Tower 4. Residents of the other towers already occupied have been evacuated.

Raio dzMM earlier reported that some construction workers are trapped in the upper floors, being prevented from leaving due to smoke in the lower floors.
