The Malaysians, without proper travel documents, were caught in the Sulu Sea near southern Palawan

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Philippines – A joint police-Navy patrol arrested 51 Malaysians  Monday morning, September 24, as they tried to cross the Sulu Sea on board two foreign registered boats from Kudat, Sabah, into Bataraza in southern Palawan.

Western Command spokesman Col Neil Estrella said they are waiting for the arrival of the arrested foreign nationals in this city for further investigation. He stressed though that have already determined the Malaysians had entered the country illegally.

The Malaysians were on board two boats, one of which was identified as a Malaysian registered vessel M/L Rancel, with 33 female passengers and 18 males.

Estrella said that when they were intercepted near Buliluyan Island off Balabac town at 3:45 am Monday, the foreign nationals were not able to present travel documents.

Estrella said they are investigating the possibility that the foreign nationals had intended to use Palawan as entry point into another country via Manila. – Rappler.com
