PH long jumper to compete in Rio

Marestella Torres Sunang will go on to compete in the 2016 Rio Olympics despite falling short of qualifying last week. The long jumper was approved by the International Amateur Athletic Federation (IAAF) as the Philippines’ representative by virtue of the “principle of universality.” Under the universality clause, an IAAF member federation can recommend a lady athlete if it has a male qualifier.
