Ex-foreign secretary Domingo Siazon Jr dies
MANILA, Philippines – Former foreign secretary Domingo Siazon Jr has died, his family announced on Wednesday, May 4.
He was 76.
“Domingo L. Siazon, Jr– Statesman, career diplomat, but more importantly, a loving husband, father and grandfather. 1939-2016,” his son, Dan, posted on Facebook.
Siazon served as foreign secretary of the Ramos and Estrada administrations.
He was Philippine ambassador to Japan from 1993 to 1995, and was reappointed to the diplomatic post during the Arroyo administration.
Siazon was Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) from 1985 to 1993. Prior to that, he was ambassador to Austria and Philippine Permanent Representative to the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and UNIDO. – Rappler.com
