President-elect Rodrigo Duterte is determined not to attend his proclamation ceremony. “I am not attending any proclamation. I’ve never attended any proclamation in my life,” Duterte told reporters late Saturday night, May 28, in a Davao City hotel. The proclamation of the winners in the presidential and vice presidential elections might happen in the next few days.

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested Joshua Habalo, a man suspected to be part of a group that sold illegal drugs at the Closeup Forever Summer concert, where 5 attendees died. He was caught in possession of ecstasy tablets, packets of cocaine, and green-colored tablets that may be the illegal designer drug, “green amore”, believed to have been sold at the concert. Habalo told Rappler he attended the concert and was high on ecstasy, but did not sell drugs.

Fr Rolando de la Rosa , former rector of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) in Manila, is set to head the Pontifical University of St Thomas in Rome, better known as the Angelicum. UST said De la Rosa will become the Angelicum’s first Asian rector. He will serve there for 4 years, from September 1, 2016 to 2020.

Brazilian police arrested the first of more than 30 suspects wanted over the gang rape of a 16-year-old girl.
